Brief Introduction :
Hong Kong College of Radiologists (HKCR) was incorporated in September 1991. Since the establishment of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine by Statute in 1993, the College has been one of the 11 founding constituent Academy Colleges delegated with the statutory power to hold professional examinations for those who satisfy the requirement of supervised training, and to accredit continuing medical education in the specialties of radiology, namely Radiology, Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. The HKCR is established with the objectives to encourage the study and advancement of the science and practice of radiology, as well as to maintain the good practice of radiology by ensuring the highest professional standards of competence and ethical integrity.
The College is active in organizing training, examinations, scientific and academic events locally. It conducts Fellowship examination in Clinical Radiology and Clinical Oncology, jointly with The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) of United Kingdom and also organizes Fellowship examination in Nuclear Medicine. It also holds half-yearly Exit Assessment to evaluate adequacy on completion of higher training prior to consideration of admission to Fellowship of the College. The College is dedicated to the promotion of the interflow of knowledge and advancement in the field of Radiology. An annual scientific meeting (ASM) is organized around October/November each year and is held conjunction with the Joint Scientific Meeting with the RCR biennially. Our College has collaborated with many international professional bodies in organizing academic activities in the last 17 years, with over 300 scientific activities, including the 11th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology in 2006. The number of participants of the events usually ranges from 500 to 2,000. In addition, monthly images case quiz is posted on the College website:
   The HKCR publishes a journal indexed in EMBASE – The Journal of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists and the Newsletter on quarterly basis, which are available online at the College website. The College also published various guidelines and position papers with an aim to encourage the best practice in patient care. There are several grants including Education grants, Conference grant, and Research grant established to promote and assist career development, continuing education and research activities among its members and international professional community.
The HKCR 15A Travelling Fellowship has been established since 2009 to provide Fellows of HKCR with advanced overseas training attachment in UK for their continuous professional development.
