Brief Introduction :
The first X-ray equipment was introduced into Korea in 1911. The Korean Society of Radiology (KSR) was established in October 1945 after WW II. The society has grown rapidly during the recent 10 years. The number of members of the Society is 3,039 and 2,468 active member by October 2010. The KSR has annual congress, the Korean Congress of Radiology, for 3 days in mid October. More than 70% of abstracts and educational courses are presented in English, so that there are many participants from foreign countries and the number is increasing.

The official journals of KSR are the Journal of Korean Society of Radiology(JKSR) and the Korean Journal of Radiology (KJR). The JKSR is a Korean journal with English abstracts while the KJR is an English journal, which was inaugurated in March 2000. The KJR is currently indexed in the Index Medicus and the SCI-E Search. The journal aims to produce and propagate knowledge on radiologic imaging and related sciences. The impact factor of the KJR was 1.315 in 2009. Since the year 2002, the full content of the journal can be reached online with URL address of http://www.kjronline.org.

The KSR officially invites the application of candidates from Asian countries for International Fellowship every year. The objectives of the fellowship are to promote research by Asian specialists in radiology and to train them in Korean academic institutions. And it is also to contribute to the distribution and improvement of radiology in Asia, encouraging mutual understanding as well as scientific cooperation.

Currently, the KSR has opened E-learning site in December 2009 to offer the education materials, which are easy to access at anytime and everywhere through Internet for the members of KSR and any radiologist from other countries.
