AOSR is a regional federation of 26 affiliated national radiological societies.AOSR will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021. The executive council nominated me to edit this book commemorating the history of AOSR. For the book, I selected 20 contributors who have been active in AOSR and served in various roles.
The contributors have reviewed the important developments of AOSR and Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR), situating the advances not only historically, but also in their cultural and social contexts.
This book comprises pre-chapter and four chapters with 38 individual subchapters. Pre-chapter includes preface from the editor and congratulatory remarks from the past presidents of RSNA and ESR. Chapter 1, titled AOSR, concerns the society’s chronology, organization, constitution, congress, education, publications, and international collaborations. Chapter 2, titled AOCR, covers the 20 conferences that have been held the past 50 years (1971-2021). Chapter 3, titled Asian Oceanian School of Radiology (AOSOR), focuses on the special task force for education organized by AOSR. Chapter 4, titled Miscellaneous, covers messages from representatives of affiliated societies and past president of AOSR, and impressive photos for reminiscence of AOSR and AOCR.
Additionally, this book contains a table of contents listing the titles of chapters and subchapters, and a variety of figures, tables and photographs related to the history of AOSR and AOCR.
To paraphrase U.S. President John F. Kennedy, let us “celebrate the past to awaken the future.” This history of AOSR holds important lessons for today’s radiologists, thanks to our experts who have worked so hard to share and preserve the story of our profession.
