In Memory of the late Professor Dai Jianping, AOSR Past President 2008-2010

The Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR) is saddened by the passing of our past president, Professor Dai Jianping on 2 March 2025, at the age of 79.


Prof Dai was a man of legend. He was a highly respected and visionary leader of AOSR, who had dedicated his whole life and work to the field of radiology in China, Asian Oceania and worldwide. His vision, mission and unwavering commitment has inspired us all, and his legacy will continue to guide our society on our journey ahead. He received the AOSR gold medal award in 2014 at the AOCR in Kobe, Japan.


Prof Dai's pioneering work in interventional neuroradiology and his commitment to education have inspired countless professionals in the field. His role as a mentor to us will always be cherished.


Prof Dai’s memory will forever remain in our hearts. We appreciate greatly and commemorate the indelible impact he has made to AOSR and the field of radiology.




More about Professor Dai’s Positions and Accolades

Prof Dai, a professor of radiology was former president of the Beijing Tiantan Hospital affiliated with the Capital Medical University, was a foreign associate of the US Institute of Medicine – now known as the National Academy of Medicine. He was a member of the International Society for Strategic Studies in Radiology (IS3R). He was also vice-president of the Chinese Medical Association for the 23rd and 24th term and a past Chinese Society of Radiology president.


He founded the Chinese Society of Neuroradiology. For his many contributions to radiology - in 2010, he was awarded the International Society of Radiology Antoine Béclère medal and delivered the Walter Fuchs Lecture at the ICR2010. In 2011, he also received the Médaille Antoine Béclère at the annual congress of the French Radiology Society (SFR). He also received multiple honorary memberships, including that of the RSNA and ESR and awarded Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists.
